Greetings loved ones and friends. I’m sorry to say that I am no longer Earthside. In my short time here, I was able to do some pretty awesome shit, like, global jet-hopping to— Japan, Thailand, Ecuador (mi segundo hogar), Peru, a bunch of places in the US, and of course Canad…eh?—teaching things to cool people, driving around in my Subaru or riding around in my Wheelie Wagon (wheelchair van) to up-north-lands…

Hi everyone! It's so good to see you here. I am writing my blogs now with dictation! Just look at my set up here, I've got a MacBook Pro, a Bluetooth keyboard that is single-handed and backlit, my adaptive mouse, my assistive bar for my hands to rest on, and my big ass monitor.

One eyed Willa of the Jolly Voter ship!
I may be a few holidays late, but I needed a good feels day to write, and that day is today! I am feeling decent—so writing it is!
Despite COVID, I’d say it didn’t ruin our family Halloween party.
There were some great costumes including: a family of pandas 🐼, pirates, and dead musicians. We went all out if you can’t tell.
Actually, my pirate costume was the most detailed and I had help from mom, dad, and my sister. I wanted to be a pirate because, well eyepatch hello! But also make it topical (I also wanted to be a mail carrier...Save the USPS!). So I decided to add number 45 to the mix. Ok, I not only added a tRump “damnit” doll , but made it walk the plank. Then I called my ship “The Jolly Voter”, because Election Day was just around the corner. I’d say that was pretty topical! Ha!
I don’t know if you heard but tRump did walk the proverbial plank and Joe Biden is our President-elect! On the night he finally won, he mentioned Disabled people in his victory speech. This, friends, is huge! He’s one of the first president’s (elect) to actually utter the word in a speech!! I think many people in the Disability community are hopeful for the future and what that could mean. Maybe more disability representation in politics, (and I don’t mean Madison Cawthorn though. ugh. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/11/04/north-carolina-madison-cawthorn-election/) actually LISTEN to disabled voices, and implement disability rights and accessibility for all! That’s not too much to ask, right??
Win win chicken din!
Anyway, back to Halloween. I didn’t even tell you the best part! I entered a costume contest through my favorite thrift shop (cakeplussize.com) and I fricken won! Well top three anyway (they didn’t say who’s who so I’m gonna go ahead and claim first place!).
Needless to say, I had a blast! I think I rested for a week after, but that’s my life!
That’s it for now! Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Oh and Happy Inauguration Day 😀!!
xoxo,
elo
The perfect lake day
Secretly for some unknown but awesome turn of events these past months (here’s looking at you COVID and a broken ankle!!) I felt clear headed with only a few manageable symptoms! I didn’t say anything because I knew that would jinx it.

So the other day I was having a conversation with my PCA about what I did in Ecuador. If you knew me pre-brain injury, you saw my adventures on Facebook, most of which saw me be-boppin’ around the country throughout my 20’s.
The very first time I went there I stayed with this kind family, and went to school and studied Spanish things. At the time, I wanted to find an easier (and cheaper) way of communicating with family and friends than the phone, and that’s what drew me to blogging!
I blogged semi consistently during my school days eloecuador.blogspot.com/ I can’t believe that I authored something on the internet that is mostly still working 10+ years later (though RIP some of the pictures as the site is no longer).
Check out my site from when I taught English there after I graduated undergrad in 2009: eloadventures.blogspot.com/
Anyway, I’ve always been a writer, mostly stream of consciousness heavy on the talkative point of view; but from journaling under the covers at night to blogging at sketchy internet cafés about traveling to blogging about finding purpose in a Groundhog Day life. Yeah, looking back I’ve done a lot.
Which is why I’m excited to put out in the universe that I’m in the beginning stages of writing two books, eeeep! One is about brain injury and coping 101, the other will be a collection of short stories about my life—which is sure to be interesting amirite? Do I have you intrigued? That’s good!!
Well crap dang it, I’d better get to writing! Errrr—typing! Errrr—thumbing! More about that at a later date as pressure isn’t my jam anymore, looking at you Master’s Capstone!
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this “meta blog-within-a-bloog” masterpiece I’ve created for you! As they say in Ecuador: chao, chao!
XOXO,
elo
Whoop, here it is.
As I sit here, propped up on a couch, typing into my Notes on my phone with my money thumb (my left thumb that does all the typing), I realized I haven’t given a health rundown in about a year!
